Papaya for bloating + digestion
We added juicy, tropical fruit Papaya to help with digestion and to fight bloat when we fly.
We become bloated when we fly because the higher we are, the lower the pressure. When there is low pressure, volume (our gases) increases and we feel bloated. Our digestion slows down at higher altitudes (due to the added stress on our body of being in the air) and so our body redirects blood away from our digestive tract to carry-out more "vital" functions like breathing and keeping our heart beating.
Papaya is a rich source of valuable enzymes, such as papain, chymopapain, caricain and glycyl endopeptidase which especially help to digest "troublesome" foods like high-protein, gluten, and casein in milk.
As a frequent flyer, you are always on the go, and it is often hard to sit down and properly chew and enjoy a meal. Rushed meals and slow digestion means that you will almost always encounter digestive issues.
The enzymes in Papaya work by breaking the bonds of proteins down into their simplest form - amino acids. The amino acids are then easily absorbed and used by the body.
Camu camu for immunity
When we fly, our immune system is suppressed for a few reasons. Firstly, we are in close contact with many, many people - from check-in, through security, to grabbing a coffee in the terminal, and finally the flight itself. We are surrounded by people from all over the world, and unfortunately this means that we are surrounded by their germs too.
Secondly, the cabin air is extremely dehydrating. Humidity in the air keeps your airways moist so the lining can help trap germs trying to enter your body. When the air you’re breathing is too dry, the mucus in your airway can’t do its job, and viruses or bacteria can enter more freely.
We're obsessed with the powerful berry and added it to support your immunity!
Tart Cherry for jet lag support
We added powerful Tart Cherry Powder to help manage Jet Lag and the disturbance of sleep which comes with frequent traveling.
Tart Cherry is one of the only natural sources of melatonin, which helps regulate your circadian rhythm.
Here's a quote on the effect of Tart Cherry on sleep from Pub Med.gov:
"These data suggest that consumption of a tart cherry juice concentrate provides an increase in exogenous melatonin that is beneficial in improving sleep duration and quality in healthy men and women and might be of benefit in managing disturbed sleep."
Chlorella + Spirulina for cosmic radiation support
There are three main factors that can affect the amount of exposure to cosmic radiation:
Altitude: the higher we go, the greater the dose
Latitude: the closer we get to the poles, the greater the dose
Duration: the longer we stay in air, the greater the dose
For example, a flight from Chicago to Beijing over the polar cap is estimated to give you the same dose of radiation as two chest X-rays. Flight crews are classified as having jobs with occupational exposure to ionizing radiation because they fly again and again, many times during the month. Cumulative doses of radiation can cause enough damage to cells to affect and harm their biological function and DNA (Chromosome translocation.) The true health risk has been hard to demonstrate, as some cancers (like those of the thyroid, breast, and bone marrow) can take up to 30 years to manifest.
Chlorella and Spirulina are powerful weapons to protect against radioactive damage and to heal it once it has occurred. These algaes literally binds to radioactive particles and flushes them out of the body, and also helps repairs DNA damage to already harmed cells.
Coconut water for hydration
We added Coconut Water Crystals to keep us hydrated!
Most of us are well aware of the dehydrating effects of flying. Dehydration occurs due to the cabin's low humidity. The humidity drops to about 10-20% (30-65% is comfortable for most people). Low humidity means that moisture evaporates very quickly from the body and causes dehydration.
Alcohol and coffee (hello red eye flights) further this problem even more. When we are dehydrated our digestion slows down, we become bloated, we are more prone to illness, we become dizzy and overall we don't feel well.
We use Coconut Water because of its excellent electrolyte content. Electrolytes are certain minerals (i.e., calcium, chloride, magnesium, potassium, sodium ions) essential to human health.
Within the body, electrolytes are dissolved in body fluids. In terms of hydration, electrolytes are responsible for directing water (and nutrients) to the areas of the body where its needed most and maintaining optimal fluid balance inside the cells.
Electrolytes support hydration of the body at the cellular level, ensuring that water is distributed and absorbed by all cells.
